Dr. Jim Herndon is the son of Dr. Bob
Herndon, who practiced with West
Wichita Family Optometrists from 1954
to 1993.  His Grandfather was Dr.
Wilkins who started the practice in 1937.  
Jim graduated from Kansas State
University in 1979.  He began farming
after graduation but returned to pursue
his optometry degree at Northeastern
State in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.  He
graduated in 1986 with the Clinical
Excellence Award and began practicing
at West Wichita Family Optometrists in
the fall of 1986.  

He is a member of the American
Optometric Association, the Kansas
Optometric Association,  the Heart of
America Contact Lens Society, and is a
Charter Member of the Eye Care Council.

Practicing general family optometry is
something Dr. Herndon enjoys
immensely.  He is capable of treating
various medical eye issues and can
prescribe ocular and systemic medicines
for this purpose.

Jim is married to his sweetheart Sandy   
and they have three children.  Kevin,
Katy and David.
